Riding Camps
The riding camp program at Lewisville Stables, formerly Barley Mill Stables, has over 25 years of experience teaching riding and day camps. We emphasize safety, fun and learning. On the first day campers will be evaluated by individual experience and ability and placed in the appropriate group. We want everyone to have a wonderful, safe experience and make some new friends of both the two and four legged variety.
All our camp horses and ponies have been selected for safety and experience in addition to temperament suitable for children. Each camper gets to ride the same horse during his or her camp week.
We provide an adult for each 6 campers and several junior counselors as well for games, crafts and un-mounted activities. Our senior counselors are certified in H.S.I., A.R.I.C.P., and C.P.R. We have trained our junior counselors in safety, prior to camp and hold them to a strict level of excellence.
Call or print out the registration form. Camp hours are from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day. Camp care before and after hours is available for an additional fee. A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration. The balance is due the Monday before the camper's registered start day.
Campers will receive the appropriate level lesson each day, lesons on horse care, arts and crafts projects, and games. We provide t-shirts to decorate and a project notebook for each camper. On Friday there is an AM show to demonstrate learned skills to which parents are invited.
For families that have more than one child enrolled we offer a family discount to each additional family member.
Athough there is some material that is essential for each week, we strive to make each week different, providing campers that are enrolled in more than one week plenty of variety.
